  • In the Dashboard, under Settings, check out permalinks. That is what you are looking for

    Thanks very much. Yes that’s it. I got the permalinks working somewhat.
    They work for pages, but not for categories.

    My custom structure is /category_base/category_name
    but when I click on a category I’m taken to a page outside wordpress, which says, “cannot find server.” And then it displays http://www.mysite.comcategory/test-category as the url it was searching for.

    There is no / after .com,
    which seems to be the problem, but as yet I haven’t figured out how to fix that…

    It looks like everything I click on except pages creates the same error described above. There is no / after .com for some reason.

    I resolved this issue by reinstalling WordPress.
