• Since today any searches return blank results.
That is, for example, if I type “CIA” the page contains no search results whatsoever. Same with any other word or combination of words like “Muslim Brotherhood”…

Our newspaper is generally glad for the functionality of the plugin but not today. 🙂

What’s up? Is it a general problem that will be solved with an update? Any compatibility issues? Or any suggestions? I would be very glad to have the problem solves a.s.a.p. and I’m sure that most of our daily readers would be happy for that too. Not being able to use the search options significantly reduces the value of our newspaper’s archives for research.

Besides that, thanks for good work so far.

Have you made any changes that might’ve caused the problem? Plugins rarely stop working for no reason. Have you updated something, changed the theme, added a new plugin?

If you’re not running the latest version of Relevanssi, updating is highly recommended.

Also, have you tried rebuilding the index? That is often a very good first step in debugging problems.

Just a friendly reminder that you’re using a free plugin and all support given for it is voluntary. For commercial purposes I would recommend Relevanssi Premium, as the license there includes support.

    Mikko.
Last things first. I think I made it abundantly clear that we “besides the situation now” are very satisfied with the plugin and thanked you for the services provided.

Since less than 0.5% of our subscribers grasped that independent journalism requires funding and them to chip in, our newspaper has troubles paying for all of the extras.. We have to pay phone bills, prioritize security, and so forth..

When more of our readers put a little bit of money where their mouth is when they say that they want independent media, believe me, we’d be happy to pay you too.

    Now to the practical stuff.
YES we use the latest version of your plugin.
NO – we didn’t make any of the changes which you mentioned. Not any changes that could correlate to the sudden end of the functionality other than ….
YES we did update other plugins – one pertaining security. You might want to look into that. I just don’t want to discuss which one in an “open forum”.

So No, this didn’t help. I presume that leaves us with the only option to deactivate or delete Relevanssi until such time that it doesn’t render all search functions absolutely inoperative.

As I said, both we as a newspaper and our readers were otherwise satisfied with the possibilities your plugin prides for and we’ll reconsider re-installing it once we solved the problem.

Any help in that regard would be warmly appreciated.

    FOLLOW-UP. PSS.:

Hello Mikko. We deactivated Relevanssi and that helped. Search functions are back. Tried to clear browser caches, ran security scans etc.. After clearing the browser cache before deactivating Relevanssi ONE search was ok, after that the problem returned. After deactivating your plugin we have our search functions back.

    If we can help you..
Should you want additional information that eventually could help you working on the issue you are very welcome to contact me directly. I presume that you can see our e-mail address. You can send a mail to it and write Relevanssi.. ATT Editorial Board into the subject line. It will be forwarded to me from there.

    Appreciation
Again, Mikko, let me express my/our appreciation for your work. That is why I am offering you that you can contact me directly, beyond this publicly readable forum, if you believe that any information we have could help you improve your product.

Sorry. private support is restricted to paying customers only. When I answer questions on the forum, the answers may help other people as well.

If Relevanssi worked previously with the security plugin, I don’t think that update broke Relevanssi. It’s probably something else. What, I can’t tell, without studying the site more closely.
