Sorry to hear about the problem you are having.
Please make sure that you are using the latest version 4.5.7 of the plugin and also try resetting the search form by editing the search form and clicking on its Reset button.

The particular page that I noticed this is set to:
Status: Draft
Visibility: Public
results from this page are included in the search and I was assuming they would not be (because its a draft)
When I change visibility to Private the page does not show as expected.
Maybe its supposed to be that way? 🙂

I changed the visibility of the draft page that is appearing in my search results and which you are looking into. That did not remove the draft page.
You reset the form. The draft page did not appear in the AJAX search results box, but that is only because other items were displayed ahead of it. I updated the search form so it would not index media, and the draft page is visible in search results.
The issue is resolved in the plugin version 4.5.8 that will be released soon.
I have released plugin version 4.5.8 so please update the plugin to the latest version on your website.
