    Hello,

Thanks for your message. The “Search Form” widget/block loads the same language files as the main plugin VikBooking. This means that translations should be made directly for VikBooking.

Our plugin comes with a PO/MO translation as well as with a POT file. You can use the WordPress official translation website to translate the plugin into your language, or you can create the PO/MO files for your language by using a third-party plugin like LocoTranslate, or a desktop software like PoEdit.

The languages available on the WordPress official translation website will be automatically downloaded onto your website, while the manually generated translation files should be uploaded onto /wp-content/plugins/vikbooking/languages in order for the system to load the PO/MO files for your language.

    We hope this helps!

Thank you for your quick response!

I’m using the Loco Translate plugin, but I can’t find “Check-in date” and “Check-out date” in the original text in Loco Translate. I can only find “Check-in Date” and “Check-out Date,” with the “D” being uppercase, not lowercase. The text on the search widget shows the lowercase “d.” I tried modifying the translation for “Check-in Date” in Loco Translate, but the search widget didn’t change.

Thanks for spotting the difference with the Gettext original translation. The issue is probably caused by the fact that your PO/MO file is still using the uppercase “D” letter, while the WordPress official English translation for VikBooking is using the lowercase “d” letter for “date” on both definitions.

Ideally, you should create a translation for “Check-in date” rather than for “Check-in Date”, so that Gettext on WordPress will properly detect and apply your translation. Maybe you can start your translation with LocoTranslate from the WordPress original PO/MO file for English.

We are going to fix this language definitions discrepancy with the very next update of VikBooking, because the proper spelling is with the lowercase “d” letter. As of today, January 20th 2025, we plan to release the next VikBooking update within the next couple of days, and by installing the update you will find the proper language definition also in LocoTranslate.
