    The plugin is working just fine. In my template the highlighted image is always the banner of the page. So the first image of a page is always the banner. I would like to force this plugin to always look for the second image on the page, which is always a thumbnail with the title of the page. Can I do so?

    By highlighted image, do you mean the Featured image?

    You could set the image you want in the meta box of the plugin by entering the full path there
