    I don’t quite understand what happened, but without the backstory and official comments from WordPress, I am on the side of the official Advanced Custom Fields developer. Shame on you, WordPress, for doing this…

    Most of the development of Advanced Custom Fields was done by Elliot Condon and Tom J. Nowell from 2011, then Delicious Brains from 2012. WP Engine bought it in 2022 and since then many of the changes have been more about branding than functional improvements.
