Yes, that is the opposite of what my plugin is designed to do… and the opposite of radio buttons in general. It sounds like you don’t need my plugin at all as WordPress uses checkboxes (which permit multiple terms) for categories by default. Non-hierarchical taxonomies (such as tags) also permit the addition of more than 1 term to a post.
Yes, I’m aware of that.
What I don’t like about the WordPress default “tags metabox” is that it makes you have to type out the tags, and gives users the ability to make a new one. Obviously something I don’t want as the site will become messy, and it takes a long time, especially if users don’t know what they can tag with.
It’s just easier to have a multiple choice box is what I’m getting at. One that lets users select ALL of what they need, and can’t make new tags. Done.
I just thought I’d ask you about your plug in because it’s the only one that shows up when users upload their comics via comic easel. Plus, comic-easel doesn’t display anything with categories unfortunately so I am running my site on tags instead.
Sounds like a no go. I know your plugin is all about radio buttons, but just thought I’d ask because I didn’t know if it was possible or not. If it was, that would be awesome, for me and anybody else who is looking for this kind of function.
Every search I’ve done, just seems like every person who’s asked about this, gets their question dodged.
But anyways, Have a good one.
If you don’t like the tags metabox, use the category metabox. I may not understand your question, but it sounds to me that you are describing the type of functionality that is already in WordPress by default. A list of checkboxes whereby you can select multiple terms is how categories and any other hierarchical taxonomy function.

I have no experience with the comic easel plugin, but I presume it creates some kind of custom post type that supports some kind of taxonomies? If it only supports a non-hierarchical taxonomy (ie: tags) then perhaps you need to add a hierarchical taxonomy (ie: like categories) via register_taxonomy().
You can remove a user’s ability to create new terms, or give users a different role that doesn’t have that capability, or register a custom taxonomy and set the capabilities to something other than the default (ex: something like manage_options that is only available to admins). If you don’t want the users to create/edit terms then you are dealing with a permissions/roles/capabilities issue.
It’s okay, thanks for taking the time to reply to me. And yes, you presumed correct lol.
Yeah it seems like we’re on different wavelengths now, which I kinda figured would happen. But no worries.
Really do appreciate all the work you plugin authors do for people like me. I have zero experience building a website, and it’s people like you that help me puzzle piece my website together in a matter of days. Very confusing and sleepless days, but days nonetheless haha.
I’ll probably find what I’m looking for eventually but until then, I’ll keep your plugin installed. 🙂
Thanks again for your time.

I remember those days, still have them every now and then. 🙂 Keep reading, keep asking, keep tinkering. And be patient. For me it was like learning a new language.

Yes, as currently phrased I don’t think I understand what you are asking, though I am pretty sure it doesn’t relate to RB4T. But if you ever want to hire a little premium support you can reach me via my website. In fact, for the next 2 weeks I am offering WordPress support in exchange for donations to Team USA.
Good luck!
