This is beyond the scope of this plugin but I will consider it a possible enhancement in the future. Another approach is to dynamically populate a Select field (https://docs.gravityforms.com/dynamically-populating-drop-down-or-radio-buttons-fields/) or use the Populate Anything add-on by GravityWiz (http://www.gravityforms.com/add-ons/populate-anything)
@wpsunshine thanks for confirming, I thought the plugin was meant to work like that from the get go.
If the search field isn’t selectable or sent through the form submissions, can I ask what the purpose of it is?
I built it as a way for customers to search our Documentation while filling out a support ticket. The goal being to reduce number of tickets by leading them to their answer first.
@wpsunshine gotcha, thanks for the explanation, that makes sense now.
If you do ever get to it, I think it will be a valuable feature to add to the plugin.
Since the Gravity Wiz Populate Anything plugin doesn’t work like a search field, so you end up having to load a dropdown select field with all products for example.
This is fine when you don’t have a lot of products, however the search and select feature could be invaluable if there are 100’s of products to search through. 🙂
You could combine the pre-population and add Select2 which has a search option in it: https://select2.org/searching
