@photokitchen , I already mentioned this in my FAQs:
If the link works fine and it’s still being flagged as broken, then it is likely either redirecting to another page or there is an issue with the page’s response headers, and there’s nothing we can do about it. If it is a redirect on your own site due to permalink modification, then it’s better to fix the link instead of unnecessarily redirecting. You may use the Omit option to omit false positives from future scans as well. If you are seeing a pattern with multiple links from the same domain, you can go to Broken Link Notifier > Omitted Links to add a domain with a wildcard (*), which will omit all links starting with that domain.
Every link checker will flag some links as broken when they are not at some point.
If you are having specific issues that don’t seem right, you can let me know what they are and I can look into it further.
@photokitchen I found that these new options (in the latest version) fix most “false positives”:
- Activate the option “Allow Redirects”
- User Agent: replace “WordPress” with something like “Broken Link Notifier” (I suspect some servers tend to block trackback/pingback by detecting the word “WordPress” in the user agent string)
Any remaining false positives can be excluded as explained by the developer above 🙂
@ravanh , I just realized you responded to this as well. Thank you for jumping in. 🙂
