When you send a test email from WP Mail SMTP > Tools area, you should be able to see the full error. Here’s a screenshot of the option to get a full error log. This will provide you with an idea of what might be going on.
Then, get in touch with your email support/hosting provider with the full error log, and they should be able to assist you further.

Please enable the WordPress debug log by following this guide.
Then, when you try logging into your WordPress backend, it will create a debug log. You should be able to locate the debug.log file under the “/wp-content/” folder.
This should help you to troubleshoot the issue. You may also report it to the hosting support, and they should be able to recover your site.
