    Hello, everyone,

I’m at the end of my tether, maybe one of you can help me.
It is about the following page: ullimahler.de

The site is structured in such a way that all pages from the carousel on the homepage are “normal” WordPress pages and the individual glasses model pages are “Projects” WordPress pages. If you google “Ulli Mahler”, only image results from the “normal” pages are displayed. The images from “Projects” are ignored.

But my goal is that the glasses images also appear under the image search results. Alt texts and descriptions are stored per image.

I work with the Yoast plugin and have also set up everything for the projects so that they are indexed (including media).

I registered two sitemaps in the Google Search Console, both of which are also listed as “Successful” by Google:

    /projects-sitemap.xml
    /page-sitemap.xml

All glasses models are available under the projects-sitemap…

But somehow Google doesn’t seem to show them anyway.`

Do you know what I’m doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Best wishes
    Lis

    Hello Lisakub,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your site images. I understand that images added to ‘Projects’ are not showing up in Google search results.

Can you please confirm if ‘Projects’ is a custom post type? Also, how are you adding content to ‘Projects’?

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Maybellyne,

    thank you for your message!

Exactly, “projects” is a special post type, which is pre-programmed by the purchased theme (Prague).

The large image at the top of the projects-pages is the featured image. The smaller images below (front view and side view of the glasses) are included in a gallery element, which is part of the template.

    Does that help you?

    Best, Lis

    Thanks for the clarification Lis.

Picking https://ullimahler.de/eyewear/parkavenue-constanze/ and https://ullimahler.de/eyewear/little-pearl-tansanit/ as examples, I can confirm images are not showing in search results. I checked the robots.txt file and there is no directive that may be blocking indexing. In https://ullimahler.de/projects-sitemap.xml, under the Images column, each URL has an image. This means that the Yoast SEO plugin detected the ‘Projects’ images.

There might be various reasons why Google is not showing your ‘Projects’ images in search results. It could be that Google’s cache of your site is outdated. If it’s Google’s cache and has your site set up in Google Search Console, you can force Google to re-crawl a page using the “Request Indexing” feature. You can use this feature to force Google’s index to update. Please follow the steps here: https://yoast.com/help/fetch-as-googlebot/.

If Google is ignoring images, we have an article on how to optimize your images in this guide – https://yoast.com/image-seo-alt-tag-and-title-tag-optimization/

Google’s goal is to represent best and describe each result. They use several different sources to get this information. In doing so, they try to make the search results as relevant as possible. Due to this being handled on Google’s end, there is little you can do to force Google to display your preferred image.
