Yes, I also faced this issue with the Dutch translations. It’s quite wonky, and I considered, coincidentally, 130px as well but forewent it a day before releasing v4.0.5.
The reason is that 98%+ of users won’t face this issue, and the wider tab didn’t look all that great when the text is relatively smaller (for the 98%+ of users). I’m unsure whether some languages that require even wider tabs than 130px, as well.
I’m considering overhauling the layout to allow for a more consistent wrapping in all languages. That means that either all tabs have their text and icon stacked or none have that–without widening the tabs more than they should be. It means that we’ll probably have to use grid over flexbox. We’ll see where the road leads me 🙂
If you have other ideas on how to improve/fix this, let me know. Do keep in mind that I’m quite cynical when it comes to code–I see a bug in everything!
