I don’t know how to search for this answer exactly, so I’m just going to ask it and apologize if it’s already been covered.

Can I build a site over another (new theme) while keeping the current theme and content? In other words, can I have a set of pages and their respective content associated with theme 1, and a completely separate set of pages under theme 2?

This way I can have theme 1 on during the day, and build theme 2 at night. When we’re ready to launch the remodel, I just enable theme 2.

Does this make sense? If so, is it possible? My brain tells me it isn’t, but you never know!

    Thanks,

    Blake

  • It does make sense, but the answer is unfortunately no.

The way that the majority of people do it is to set up a second separate development site , copy the main iste over to it, do the updates, and copy the updated site back to the main sites location. The only other thing to do is to do it all live, which is something that I’m sure you’d prefer to avoid seeing as yhow you’ve asked this question. 🙂
