After the wordpressupdate to 4.4 the site gave a server error 500. After removing Ultimate Member the site was still in the air. After installing and activating plugin Ultimate Member the site broke for a second time.

We’ve had the same issue (error 500) on several sites that don’t use this plugin. We restored the sites from backup, and added more rights to the public_html directory. Apparently the update needs to write one or more files.
