    I get this error on the webpage when I switch to another language in the admin area, in this case German (de_DE). I have to delete the language files via ftp in order to access the admin area again and switch it back to English:

    Server error
    The website encountered an error while retrieving xxx.xxx. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

    I have a working version of the install on my localhost where I can switch the admin language without issue. I used the plugin “Duplicator” (http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/duplicator/) to clone the package and upload it to my webserver to test it at, for example: “mydomain.com/wordpress”.

    Everything else works fine, permalinks, page links etc. but when I switch the language to German it gives me a error message as above.

    What could be the issue here!?

    I turned on WP-DEBUG and found the following error:

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 9 bytes) in /var/www/web1195/html/wordpress/wp-includes/pomo/mo.php on line 198

    Seems the server is probably the issue here: Is it just a case of increasing the “memory_limit”?

    I just added

    ini_set(“memory_limit”,”64M”);

    to the top of

    wp-config.php

    and it blew away all my problems!

    I have same problem. I was just add a plugin after that everything was normal. Suddenly error page come. infact I am not able to access the login page. Please check my site you can see the problem. http://www.pixelseoservices.com
