I followed there instructions to install wordpress on my own Ubuntu 12.04 server:
    http://www.packtpub.com/article/ubuntu-server-and-wordpress-15-minutes-flat

I was able to access the dashboard and work on the site, but after restarting the server I was only able to get to the “It Works!” default page. I can also access (ip)/index.php as I would normally (contains the phpinfo() page, nothing to do with wordpress).

I deleted the /wordpress folder and tried again, but I still can’t acces wordpress.

I have been accessing wordpress using it’s ip address on my network (192.168.0.8), and am able to ssh into it. MySql and apache are running fine.

    What can I do?

I was able to get it working by moving my wordpress directory to /var/www/

I hope that’s not a big security vulnerability.
