Server refused connection – Facebook comment
-
Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?
If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:
http://jetpack.me/contact-support/Hi Jeremy,
The issue is one of our favorites, as developers. It is intermittent.
The problem hasn’t occurred for nearly a week but that doesn’t mean it’s gone for good, in my humble opinion. I made no changes to the site to make it quit happening.
Anyway, here is the URL: http://sealgrinderpt.com
When it does fail, enthusiasts who visit the site are trying to post their results to WOD (Workouts of the Day) posts, and it was not the same WOD post in each instance.
Thanks for the extra details!
Do I understand correctly that when this starts happening, it usually happens to multiple people at once?
Could you also let me know what other plugins are currently active on your site?
Thanks!
Here is a screenshot of active plugins, Jeremy:
http://screencast.com/t/6IY7Zvya8MeThank you. Unfortunately, I don’t see anything that could potentially cause issues with our comment form.
Next time this happens, could you try using the default “guest” commenting method, and let me know if you experience the same issue?
Thanks!
Yes, the “normal” comment system worked even when the sessions were failing through JetPack comments … if that is what you mean.
I don’t know how the JetPack social commenting works and if there was a server issue from your side or if the credentials supplied to Facebook through your API were not recognized.
Either way, I’ll just mark this resolved and, if it happens again, hopefully you’ll respond a little quicker so we can look into things while the failure is occurring.

By Normal, do you mean this form?
http://i.wpne.ws/aOaJOr this one:

We didn’t experience any downtime in the past few weeks, but next time this happens you could check this page to make sure:
http://status.automattic.com/Feel free to post here again, I’m subscribed to this thread so I should get to it quickly.
By normal I mean this one … the regular WordPress comment system unaided by JetPack: http://i.wpne.ws/aOnF
I’m going to invite a site member who contacts me when the problem occurs to post here instead. I just received an email indicating the problem is happening today.
Hi Support, I’m following up on Marj’s comments regarding the issues that I have personally seen posting to http://sealgrinderpt.com
I am an enthusiast of sealgrinderpt.com and have been posting daily to the site using the Jetpack plugin feature with my Facebook login.
The issues with posting started becoming intermittent about a week after the start of the challenge and then seem to disappear about a week and half ago.
Tonight at the end of the 30 day challenge I’m not able to post as I’m now getting back the following response: “The server refused the connection.”
The issue is now persistent. I noticed if I let it go and retry posting in the morning it will work – seems to have some kind of self-healing power :-). Have a look now if you have the time. Try posting a test message using a Facebook account at the following URL.

Here are the screenshots of the steps taken. Just reproduced at 2306 EDT.

Hi
Issue has recovered itself – successfully posted comment at 0606 EDT.
Will report back if issue is seen again!
FYI
@mista.yan Thanks for the extra details! Unfortunately I was sleeping when you experienced the issue so I missed that window, and the comments seem to work for me now.
Next time this happens, before to post here could you try clicking on “Change”, and then try to comment using a Twitter, WordPress.com, or Google+ account? If you don’t have such an account, could you fill in your email address and try to comment as guest?
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!
@marj Wyatt Do you happen to use the All-In-One WP Security Plugin on your site? If so, could you try the steps described here, and let me know if it helps?
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/jetpack-comments-server-refused-connection?replies=2&view=allThe site is not using All-In-One WP Security nor anything like that.
These are the installed plugins at the site:

Several times during the past two weeks, my client has informed me that his site using the Jetpack comments feature for social engagement is failing. The error received is “The server refused the connection.”
The site is on Jetpack 3.3.2.
I spent an hour on the phone with his hosting company yesterday and their tech support concluded it was not a lack of resources on his Servint VPS.
This capability is important to his business. He is ramping up and has thousands of followers who he is inviting to provide feedback on workout routines he posts each day.
My support questions are:
What causes this error?
Why has the frequency of this issue increased during the past two weeks?
How can we fix it?
