Session cannot be started error

Warning: session_start(): Session cannot be started after headers have already been sent in /home3/suzanm2016/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-image-refresh/functions.php on line 3

I am getting this error message after updating php and plugins. Can anyone suggest what can be done to fix it? It is one of several issues that is preventing my site running
