Hey @jedeihl123
I’m sorry to hear that you’re having a problem here. I’ll be happy to help!
I haven’t been able to reproduce this on my test site, will you check if you have the same issue under these conditions?
- all other plugins deactivated
- any custom code removed
- WP 2020 theme active
- running the current version of Classifieds Plugin
- running the current version of WordPress
- all site, server, and browser caches cleared
You can find more detail on how to find a conflict in the docs.
If you do have the same issue under those conditions, please let me know.
Best,
Hi @garret1996 ,
I double checked all the above:
all other plugins deactivated –> off
any custom code removed –> commented out functions file
WP 2020 theme active –> confirmed
running the current version of Classifieds Plugin –> v4.1.5
running the current version of WordPress –> v.5.8.1
all site, server, and browser caches cleared`–> web hosting and browser caches clear
With a little more sleuthing, I discovered that when the user is not logged in, the location is not updated on the current page with state –> city –> etc. Instead, when you select a category, the location is then updated. When logged in, the user sees the location updated right away before accessing any other category. This second behavior where it is updated immediately is what I expected for both users.
Hey @jedeihl123
Would you mind contacting us at https://awpcp.com/contact/
I’d like to take a closer look here if you don’t mind.
Thanks!
Hi @garret1996,
Sorry about the delay. After digging some more, I discovered that the plugin does not interact with the web hosting cache correctly. When I disable caching for just the awpcp plugin main page, the set/clear location works as expected when the user is logged out. Unfortunately, I still see the same issue when trying to change location from a category page as the cache is not disabled on these pages. Are the logged in and out use cases handled differently? Obviously, I would like to enable the cache throughout all the pages.

Hey @jedeihl123
Thanks for that helpful information!
There shouldn’t be any difference in the way logged in and logged out users are handled from our plugin. This is something I can ask the developers to take a look at, but in the meantime, it would probably be best to not cache these pages.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know!
Best,
