Hi, I love your Limit Comments and Word Count plugin.

But I also miss a feature that will be a great addition to your plugin and very helpful for us.

Is it possible to make a feature that activates a maximum number of comments on a blog post or static page level?

This feature should show a variable input box for maximum comments allowed on blog posts or static page pages when enabled.

So I can set a maximum number of total comments on page-level for any specific blog post or static page. When it reaches the maximum number of comments set for that particular blog post or static page, it should hide the “post a comment” entry box so visitors can add no more commands.

If this requires paid customization, please contact me or send me a pm because I would love to have this feature.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Best regards,
    Williejan

Thanks, @laserspiegel. I have submitted your request to the developer to evaluate the possibility of doing this.

This feature would not be a rule since it is a global setting. The feature could be added above the “Text for Comment Rules Tooltip Box” on the settings panel with an entry field with a limit of three numerical digits. There should be two options to either apply the rule to all the blog posts only. Then another option could include static page comments too.

Something like this, with fields being blank by default:

[126] Global maximum number of comments allowed. [X] Rule limit for blog posts. [X] Rule limit includes static pages too.

Great @artiosmedia that is exactly what I meant! Thank you so much for your consideration, and I hope your developer can implement this; it would be very helpful for us.

    Greetings @laserspiegel,

I took your meaning to add a global entry for all entries in the plugins setting panel as I outlined above. However when you said, “…for any specific blog post or static page.” The word ‘specific’ told the developer you wanted to assign a comment limit value to only certain posts. Therefore the plugin modification added a line in the following location outlined by a red box “Maximum comments allowed [xxx]” below the existing option. See: https://ps.w.org/limit-comments-and-word-count/assets/screenshot-5.jpg?rev=2665085

The entered value is only good for that post while each post can have a different comment limit.

Please install this 1.1.8alpha update and test: https://file.io/SZ01DdZLf3Yq If this is what you were wanting, then I will update the plugin repository immediately.

An $80 donation from the main plugin page on the right would be helpful, or any amount for that matter, under the title “Donate”. It aids my not-for-profit for impoverished children.

    Thanks,
    Steven

@laserspiegel Please let me know what your updated plugin test results are from my last post above. We are waiting to upload the plugin update if okay.

@laserspiegel Having not heard back and other updates required, we have posted the new version with the requested modification.

An administrator can optionally enter a global value in the settings panel, to limit the total number of comments allowed on all posts. If the field is left blank, the default value of WordPress is maintained.
