Setting defaults for image uploads

Hi all,

I’m creating a website for my dad, and so need it to be as simple to use as possible.

He’s going to be uploading lots of images in his posts. One thing I noticed when creating example postings was that I always had to change the ‘Link to’ to be ‘Page’ instead of ‘File’. Also, I always wanted the images to be right-aligned by default, as that way they’ll float better.

Is there any way I can set these two options as default?

Also, as an aside, can anyone recommend a simple gallery plug-in? The Popup Image Gallery I downloaded from Andy Staines seems a little too complicated.
