Use a Link for ‘Gallery’ instead of using a Page. In the Link URL, place a single hash mark ‘#’, nothing else. For the ‘Link Text’, enter ‘Gallery’.

Thank you very much for your time in answering me.
I’m afraid I am very new to this. How do I get Gallery into the main menu if I don’t create the page first?
I entered Gallery as the parent for example of the drop down menu “September 2014”. I thought there may be somewhere one could enter “child” of Gallery for the link.
Open up your menu for editing and then follow these steps:
- Remove the Gallery Page from the menu.
- Open the ‘Links’ dropdown on the left.
- In the Link URL, place a single hash mark ‘#’, nothing else.
- For the ‘Link Text’, enter ‘Gallery’.
- Click ‘Add to Menu’.
- Drag to the position you want Gallery to appear in the menu.
- Drag the child pages beneath the new Gallery item.
- Update the menu.

Thank you very much, once again.
HOWEVER, I cannot find a “Links” dropdown menu of the left – anywhere in the Dashboard. Does it come under another heading? I have looked under all the headings. I have the latest wordpress version. I looked under permalinks under Settings but could not see where I could add anything.
It is on the left inside the Menus screen.

Sorry for being so ignorant about this. This is a copy of my menu list. I have deleted the page “Gallery” and it is still coming up in the menu. (I don’t know how that happened, after I deleted the page). In this example “Septembers 2014” the sub menu is named “Albums”.
I cannot work out where to put the # or where to put the word Gallery.
As it is at the moment when I click on Gallery in the main menu it comes up with an error message.

Thank you for your video. Clicking on the actual video didn’t work but I clicked on the wording below it “Here’s a video for you” and it worked.
I am using the Exposure Theme and I don’t get the Custom Link option coming up on my screen.
Now I have deleted Gallery from the Menu but I don’t know how to get it back on the Menu without creating a page.
It does not say ‘Custom Link’, it only says ‘Links’ and it is a grey bar beneath the ‘Pages’ box inside the Menus screen.
Click the little down arrow on the right of the bar to open the dialog box. Enter the URL and Link Text as described in steps 3 and following above.

Thanks very much – but my screen is not the same as your. There is no section with links showing on my screen. I have activated a few different themes and it is the same in every theme – No links section. I have disactivated the Them and reactivated it but still no links section.
It looks like I will have to get in touch with the Exposure support forum unless you have any other suggestions.
Go to your Menus screen. Click ‘Screen Options’ at the top right of the screen. Make sure that the ‘Links’ checkbox is checked.
