Hi there, I am trying to set up my images to be served from Cloudflare by following your blog but am having some issues with it not working for some reason. Am I able to get some help in doing this please?

WP Offload Media Support Team here. Thanks for reaching out with your query, we would be happy to assist!

Just to confirm, were you following our guide below for using Cloudflare as a CDN?

    https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-offload-media/doc/cloudflare-setup/

If so, could you give us more information about the issue you are experiencing?

Most of the time, the issue arises from the bucket not using the same subdomain that you want to use for your CDN. For example, if you want to serve your images using images.mysite.com, then your bucket name should be images.mysite.com. (not just “images” or a different name) Could you confirm if that is the case?

Hiya and yep that was the one I was trying to follow.

So just to check my website address is dancingwithher.com

But my images look to be coming from dwhimages.s3.amazonaws.com

Does this mean it is set up and named wrong?

If so do you have any blogs or info on how I can go about changing the bucket name without it affecting the images already on my website?

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Arlia

    Hi @dwheditor,

If the images are loaded from dwhimages.s3.amazonaws.com, it means that the files are offloaded to the bucket dwhimages and served from there.

To serve the offloaded files via Cloudflare, the bucket name should match the CNAME you need to use. You’ll need to create a new bucket with the correct name, as buckets cannot be renamed: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/prescriptive-guidance/latest/defining-bucket-names-data-lakes/faq.html#q3

You then need to copy the offloaded media files from the original bucket to the new bucket. This functionality is available with the pro version of the plugin: https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-offload-media/upgrade/

When that’s done, you may proceed with setting up Cloudflare: https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-offload-media/doc/cloudflare-setup/

If you wish to retain the bucket and still want to use a CDN, you may opt for CloudFront: https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-offload-media/doc/cloudfront-setup/

OK great thanks for that info!

So for example I need to name my bucket images.dancingwithher.com and then add the CNAME record like this; https://ibb.co/m66TP9Z. And then on your plugin end I enter it like this; https://ibb.co/n0R7Fm6?

Or am I missing the s3.amazonaws.com somewhere?

I just want to make sure I get it right before I purchase the upgrade and delete all media of server.

    Hi @dwheditor,

The CNAME record would need to have the s3.amazonaws.com, and if your bucket is not in the default “us-east-1” (N. Virginia) region, then you would also need to add the region.

    Thank you.

OK thanks so the bucket name should include my website also? Or calling it ‘images’ is fine just so long as I enter images.dancingwithher.com.s3.amazonaws.com (with or without the region depending) to the target section in cloudflare?

    Hi @dwheditor ,

Yes, your bucket name should include your website domain, if you want to use Cloudflare. It should match the subdomain that you want to use for your offloaded media.

If you are using images.dancingwithher.com as your subdomain, then your bucket name should be images.dancingwithher.com.

Let us know if you have any other questions.
