Settings page does not display correctly

I have an issue with the Google Maps Widget plugin (v. 3.36). When installed in WordPress 4.5.3 (whether from a ZIP or using the “Search Plugins” option in the dashboard), the plugin will install successfully, but the “Settings” page does not let me configure the plugin. All I see are three links like this, rather than the tabs containing the config options:

Settings
Export & Import
PRO License

Clicking them does nothing. I have deleted the plugin and re-installed, tried a different browser (I use Firefox and I have tried it in Chrome where I get the same behaviour).

What is strange is that I have the same plugin and version installed in another WordPress install (4.5.3) and the settings screen works fine…

Any body any idea?

Hi,
The new version of WP is not to be blamed. What you’re describing is a JS issue. Check out the console to see if it’s our plugin causing the problems or some 3rd party JS from another plugin.

Thanks for your reply. I’m not blaming the WordPress install, indeed the plugin works fine in another WordPress instance (of the same version) on another server.

The only other plugins I have are the “Aksimet” plugin which is bundled with WordPress. I have deleted this and it has made no difference.

I looked at the F12 console, and indeed you are right…

JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1
GET http://blahblah/~blog/wp-content/plugins/google-maps-widget/js/jquery.cookie.js?ver=3.36 406 (Not Acceptable)
Uncaught TypeError: $.cookie is not a function

Looks like it is some server side issue… any tips?

Looks like I found the answer:

I think I’ll look for another plugin – seems a bit of a faff to just get the plugin to work.

We’ll push an update today that’ll will fix the cookie issue on all servers.

Great! If you can push an update that would be perfect. It seems a bit backward to disable a mod_security rule, so an update would get me using it again!

I doubt I am the only one with this issue…
