settings page gives internal server error

everything seems to work fine, but i can’t access the settings page, it gives “internal server error”.. also when i click my own IP in the ‘recent known visitors” (in order to filter it) i get the server error.

everything else seems to work like it should.

i installed through the wordpress interface.
what can be wrong..?

You may want to check your server logs (MySQL and Apache) to see what error is.

thanks for the reply. i’m on a shared server, so i had to search for the log (thought i couldn’t get it but found it after all)

i get this:

mod_security: Access denied with code 500. Pattern match “(\\\\.\\\\./\\\\.\\\\.|/|(http|https|ftp)\\\\:/)

can i work around this?

maybe i should note that all other plugin config pages work o.k.

I see. You need to put WP SlimStat on your whitelist, and let it do its job 😉

sounds easy but.. what white list do you mean? some wordpress function, or something on the server..?

i put this in my htaccess file, and it works now. but is it not unsafe?

i did google, and it works, i think (being on a shared server) this is the only way to make it work.

Well according to this page you don’t need to completely turn mod_security off:

As I said, you should be able to add SlimStat to your whitelist 😉
