I’m still a little confused as the best way to setup the system. My Club has multiple teams – Seniors, Reserves, Under 19’s & Over 35’s. The Seniors and Reserves play in B Grade of the Victorian Amateur Football Association, the Under 19’s play in the Under 19 premier Division of the same Association, and the Over 35’s play in the Victorian Masters competition. I have setup as Leagues = VAFA B Grade, VAFA U19 Premier, and VMA. My Club is Parkdale Vultures and is setup as a team. I have set Seniors & Reserves as Leagues but with the Parent VAFA B Grade. The other 2 (U 19 & Over 35) use the VMA League. For our records I need to distinguish by “Club” records (a total of all games and goals for all teams) and then Senior records (a total of all games and goals in the Senior & Reserves teams only). Does my configuration look feasible and Is this the best way to set these up please ?

    Hi!

    Thanks for reaching out.

I’m not sure if I get 100% of what the issue is. But if I’m correct, the main issue is that you have a single team, but you need separate stats for each of your sub-divisions of that team. Is that right?

If yes, then you could use sub-teams. When creating a new team you can select a parent team:

This should allow you to add these sub-teams and store their stats separately.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I have documented what I think is the way to setup Sportspress for Australian Rules Football. I have also included the output I need to return by way of player statistics. I’m wondering if you could cast your eye over the attached files and advise whether this is the best way to configure to achieve the desired output. If I can get this right I’m happy to document the process for other Australian Clubs.

My documents are located here: http://sportspress.khcc.com.au/sportspress-info/

Thanks Roch, I have a couple of questions when using sub-leagues and sub-teams.

When I add a player do I assign them to the Team and the sub-teams or just the sub-teams ? Same situation with the Leagues, do I assign the League and the sub-leagues or either/or ?

Same question again for the Events, do I use Leagues, Sub-Leagues, or both, and a Team, or Sub-Teams or both.

    Cheers

    Hi!

    Thanks for your reply.

In general, you should assign them to the items you want to have stats for. Thus if you want stats for the sub-team, you can use it, if you want for the main team, use it as well.

The same goes for the competition. Whichever you want to display in their profiles, pick them in the player settings.

This won’t prevent them from being used in different leagues or tams, it just assigns the stats to these teams/competitions.

Regarding events, this depends on which league tables they should affect. So if it’s just the sub-competition, use that one. If it’s both, use both (you can have more than one competition)

    Thanks!
