Several Bugs / issues
-
HI there,
Plugin works well but has several bugs.
1: When an editor is updating posts, pages and especially widgets the cache is not cleared and will not show the changes.
2: The editor toolbar will also disappear when this plugin is active.
Disabling the plugin as well as removing the physical cache folder is the only fix for the above.
OR:
Making an editor an admin and allowing them to clear the cache as the Manual delete cache is only available to Admins.
-
As a note. the option for clear cache after updating a page is checked.
I have tested this extensively and as an editor updates to the site do not show unless an Admin clears the cache. I have also tested this across three websites.
Probably needs to be fixed fairly urgently?
You can test this by doing the following.
Create a user and assign as an editor. Then try and update a widget i.e Black Studio Text Widget.
The cache will not clear and you will not see any changes. The only fix as mentioend is to make all editors Admins… as the Delete cache is only available to admins. Not ideal as you can imagine.

It works well. Can you create me an editor account and may I test it?
Hi There,
Ok, I have tried to pinpoint what may be the issue and it seems to be down to the host.
I have tried the plugin on a duplicate site on another host and it seems to work. The host where it does not work is http://www.lcn.com unless you manually clear the cache.
The problem is that I have to make editors Admins to enable them to do this.
Is there a way that we can allow editors to manually clear the cache? If not, I suspect that it is down to the host somehow blocking the clear cache task when updating.
Ok, it is definitely down tot lcn.com
Tested on the 3 client sites that are all on LCN and the the cache will not clear with any update.
As a workaround I have set the cache to not show to logged in users so the client does not see the issue until they log out. I have then set the timer to once an hour.
Can you let me know if you can enable the delete cache option for editors? At least then I can get the editors to manually delete the cache without making them Admins.
Other cache plugins such as W3 allow this.
If not, I’ll have to look at another cache plugin. A shame as yours is very good apart from this.
I am not sure if it will be a concern for you but LCN are quite a big host in the UK.
Hi there,
I have quickly installed the User Role Editor and according to this the Editor should have the ability to change FC settings.
However, this is not the case. I have looked at this on three hosts and wp editors do not have the ability to clear the cache.
Any update on allowing the Editor to delete the cache manually to fix the issue on some hosts / with the plugin where a widget / page update does not clear it automatically?
paulleeson, you wrote so much π I cannot read them. Why don’t you try to put screenshots?
I am not sure how screen shots will help?
Basically, on the tested Host LCN.com your plugin does not clear the cache when you update a page or widget.
LCN.com are a standard Linux Host that fully supports WordPress and I have a client that hosts 3 x websites with them.
The problem
The problem is that when an Editor / Admin makes an update, the update is not shown on the site as the plugin still serves the old cached files. They also lose the top ADMIN tool bar.As an admin you can manually delete the cache but not everyone can be an ADMIN.
The only workaround I can see is to allow Editors to manually delete the cache. Then the Editor can manually delete the cache every time they update.
So the simple answer / workaround whilst not fixing the issue is to build in the ability for Editors to manually clear the cache.
Can this be done?
If not, I’ll use the tried and tested W3 Total Cache
Put simply just in case.
Can you please allow editors to also manually clear the cache.
Reason: Your plugin does not work / clear the cache after an update on some linux hosts.
is the problem “not to clear cache after new post” ?
Yes
and after any widget update on some Linux hosts.
As your plugin will NOT clear the cache after a new post or widget update.
I need to ALLOW Editors to manually clear the cache.
The cache are not cleared after widget update.
About new post; Did you check it with other browser? Maybe your browser cached the page. Can you tell me url please?
Do you have a direct email?
It is not the browser cache.
It is a plugin issue with some hosts. Mainly http://www.lcn.com
All I need is the ability to ALLOW Editors to clear / delete the cache.
