How do you want it to behave when users click on the addthis button?
Not the “Add This” button. The new tab pops up when I click on the green “share” button. when I close the tab and go back to the website, it had opened the “share with” drop down menu and allows me top select any of the many options. that’s all I want it to do and not to also open another tab for the website please.
Ok let us look into this.
Did you select under question 6 to open it in a new tab?
I tried that and instead of it opening the link in a new tab it sends my page away to http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php?v=250.
Can I please get a response to this issue? Thanks.
We are still looking into it, please allow more time.
Update: we did some more investigations into addthis and discovered that there are issues with GDPR, the new EU privacy protection regulation, as addthis is tracking user behavior which is not permitted without the user’s explicit consent.
Therefore we will remove this option from the free plugins, as we don’t have any control who is using our free plugins.
Thank you for continuing to look into this. So does this now mean that the Share button will be removed completely from the free version I am using or just the “open new tab” aspect? Please clarify
The share button will be removed completely.
That’s a shame. I might have to remove the plugin and try another as the share button is important to me.
Yes, I can understand. We just don’t want to run any legal risks. For the premium plugin it’s different, there we have the contact details of our users, and can inform them about this, there they can make a qualified decision. There we will also implement that an overlay may be shown (go to http://www.addthis.com and click on the share button to see what I mean).
So the Premium version will just have the overlay and not the pop-up?
If user clicks on the addthis icon, he will see the overlay. If he only hovers over the addthis icon, he will see the drop-down.
is there a way I can see this is action please?
