Thanks. Yes, being able to disable sharing is on my list of things to do…some day. This is a free plugin, if you are willing to financially sponsor this update I can get it done as a high priority.
A bit more on this. The sharing buttons aren’t actual social media buttons connected to their sites. In fact it is a plain old button that calls some javascript code that then does the sharing.
I inherited this plugin but my reading of /wp-content/plugins/speakout/js/public.js from line 157 shows that until the button is clicked, there is no connection to social media sites.
Regardless of what these buttons “do” or not, it would be nice to disable them by a plugin option.
The ability to disable them has been there all along.
