    Hello

I have the Google integration for WooCommerce. In the Shipping tab, you can customize the settings. My shipping and return are kind of complex. How can I change the settings so I have different shipping and return policies for different kinds of product categories and product attributes? Also, the area of shipping should be considered.

    I have these shipping classes:

    Germany

    EU

    UK/CH

    ROW

And for each class there are different type of shipping size which have different costs.

Moreover, the products I sell with the attribute Modalità: In-store have a return policy of 14 days. There are also products with the attribute Modalità: In-store, but of the category “Arte di Giuseppe Govinda”, they cannot be returned. Finally, there are affiliate products with the attribute Modalità: Online, these have different return and shipping policies related to the platform “Amazon, Spring, etc.”

For is important that all of this will be then synchronized by Google Merchant.

Also, another problem is that on Google Merchant I have in shipping nations that are not in the list of my Google for WooCommerce integration.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Hi @govisola,

Thanks for explaining your setup. I can see your shipping and return structure is quite detailed, and it’s important that it syncs correctly with Google Merchant Center.

To clarify upfront: the Google for WooCommerce plugin does not currently support assigning different shipping or return policies based on product categories or attributes. So, while your product setup is well-organized with attributes like Modalità and specific categories, these rules won’t be automatically passed to Google via the plugin.

    1. Shipping Classes and Costs
Since you’ve already set up shipping classes like Germany, EU, and UK/CH, you can go to the Shipping tab in the Google Listings & Ads settings and select “Automatically sync my store’s shipping settings to Google.” This will sync the shipping zones and rates you’ve configured in WooCommerce directly to your Google Merchant Center account.
    2. Return Policies
The plugin also doesn’t support syncing different return policies for different product types or attributes. Google Merchant Center only accepts one return policy per country, and it must be set from your Merchant Center account. If you need to make exceptions like for Arte di Giuseppe Govinda products that can’t be returned, you can use return policy labels, but this would require a more advanced feed plugin such as Product Feed PRO or CTX Feed, as Google Listings & Ads does not support return labels directly.
    3. Affiliate Products
Products with Modalità: Online that link to platforms like Amazon or Spring are considered affiliate products. These cannot be synced to Google Merchant Center through WooCommerce, as Google only allows items that are fulfilled by you (the store owner). You’ll want to exclude these from the feed to avoid disapprovals.
    4. Unwanted Shipping Countries in GMC
If you’re seeing shipping destinations in Google Merchant Center that don’t match what’s in your WooCommerce setup, it’s likely because of old shipping services or automatic settings in GMC. You can fix this by going to Shipping and Returns in your GMC account and removing any unwanted countries or services manually.

Feel free to let us know if you need further help or clarification.

    Hello @lovingbro

I appreciate your replay and support.

1 thank you I have done it

2 is it not possible to do it with a code in the file function php? If yes, do you have any tips?

3 Are you definitely suggesting to delete all connections with the affiliate products from my Woocommerce and leave in merchant only the in-store products of my Woocommerce? Are you sure is it’s a good idea? On merchant the only merch I have click are the affiliate ones…

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards

    Hello Giuseppe,

    Thank you for your reply.

Custom code is outside the scope of our support policy, so I recommend consulting a professional developer for assistance. You can find a good developer at Codeable.io or WooExperts.

Regarding affiliate products, my colleague advised against syncing them with Google Merchant Center. However, you can still keep these products in your store and continue selling them.

Let me know if you have any more questions. 🙂

    Hello @doublezed2

    Thank you for your response.

about the affiliate products: even though my affiliate products are in merchant not optimized (since they are affiliate I do not have codes ects) I noticed that they have more clicks than my in-store products. For that reason I was wondering if removing them from merchant a good strategy is. Moreover they have impressions.

    Hello Giuseppe,

    Thank you for your reply.

According to Google’s policy, you are only allowed to promote products on Google that are available for purchase through your store. I recommend you read the policy for a better understanding of Google’s rules.

If you have any questions, I am here to help you. 🙂
