Is there any information on “Shipping Classes” support?
Like that original poster, the issue is restricting Media Mail to items that are eligible for that method.

In the meantime, you can restrict Media Mail to items that are eligible using
* Conditional Shipping and Payments
* Advanced Shipping and Packages
