Hi Kim,
I’m the author of the eShop Shipping Extension plugin, and you’re lucky I found this post (it would have been better to post this under my plugin’s support forum). It seems like you haven’t set up the weights correctly for your products. They’re either missing from the Product Entry form, or you’ve got a bad Method/Weight unit set under eShop->Shipping.
Hi, i’ll post the answer here and again on your forum if i can find it. Thanks! I moved the entire site over so all the settings are the same for both, so not understanding why one works and one doesn’t not sure what weights i need to set up (or set up differently). Hoping to be able to find some answers.
here are some screen shots of the settings, sorry it’s in french, can’t seem to get WPML to go in english for the admin area.

here’s the settings in the product itself.
What do you have for weight units under eShop -> Shipping -> Shipping modes?
That piece is not used by eShop Shipping Extension, as it disregards zones. There’s supposed to be a field for ‘Weight Unit’ just above the Save button. In it, you need to enter the type of weight – if it’s Kilo, Pound, or Grams. Entering the abbreviations also works (kg, lbs, g).
After adding in lbs, please empty the cart, clear your cache and cookies, and try again.
thanks, so much for persisting with me.
so cleared the cache, tried again and same error

what’s interesting is on the original site (mine has same content, just different theme) http://www.attitudeorange.com/agenda-2014/ i put that same product in the cart and can get the postal rates just fine, with or without the lbs in the weight field.
I’ll need to have a look at your set up. Please create an admin account for vinny [at] usestrict [dot] net.
set up you should receive the notice/password
Something is messing with your sessions. I added http://www.motherhoodincorporated.ca/orange/en/2014-planner/ to the cart, clicked to proceed to checkout, then back to the cart, and the cart was empty. That’s probably what’s causing the weight to not be found by the shipping module.
what kind of thing would mess with the session? not sure where to begin looking? could it be theme related? that’s the one difference between the two set up’s
It actually could be theme related, as it kept nagging me saying that it recommends Woocommerce. That is the only difference? No other plugins are different? Even versions? What about hosting, are they hosted in the same company with the same setup?
I have honestly never seen a server that didn’t deal with PHP sessions correctly, but I’ve heard some don’t allow them. This would probably mean that the shopping cart never got populated at all (which isn’t your case), but it’s what comes to mind.
