There may be a mistake in shortcode example 8 on https://en-gb.ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/m1downloadlist/

Shortcode example 8, quotes hidedirs=”pdf,docx” whereas I think it should read filetype=”pdf,docx” rather than hidedirs
