Shortcode in menu working, sort of

I am using Kleo theme for a community site and want to show a menu link with the title as the current user name to link to the Buddypress profile page. I installed a plugin for shortcode [currentuser_username] and it works fine, with the menu tab showing current user. When I mouse over the tab, though, it shows the shortcode. How do I hide this?
