/events/ had been working, now that’s not displaying anything, either.
Re-saved permalinks. Still not working.

All the events I added are gone.How?
Venues still exist.

No idea why my saved events disappeared but venues and categories remained.
Ideally I want to use /events/ and add a photo.

The event list shortcode renders just a simple list. There are ways of modifying how it display events though.
The /events/ or /events/event page, depending on your setting, typically displays a page of events. This is what appears to be in place now. By default, and assuming you’ve got ‘theme compatibility’ enabled (it is by default) this will display the featured image of the event.
