It sounds like our The Events Calendar Shortcode & Block plugin is possibly installed, but not activated on your site. If you’re on a multi-site it may not be Network Activated, though I haven’t tested installing on a multi-site recently. When activated, it does work on a 6.5.2 or higher install, for example on our demo site:

Are you able to verify that the plugin is activated on the sub-site you’re trying to use it on, or try doing a Network Activation so it’s activated on all sites?

doh! youre absolutely right – for some reason the plugin just deactivated itself somewhere during th eupgrade process (and so did the events calendar plugin itself). I have switched it back on and it’s working fine.
