I have the latest WP and plugins
Unfortunately I don’t VC plugin to test this 🙁 Two questions, in frontend do you see the plain shortcode being displayed or nothing at all? Also does the shortcode work if you add it to a page’s content area?
It doesn’t show plain shortcode either. It doesn’t display anything.
It doesn’t display anything even when I added it to a blank new page with no VC code.
That’s good, that indicates the issue is not related to VC.
It might be the shortcode itself is broken: one problem I come across in Mac OS is when you copy a text (here, the shortcode) and paste, by default it’s not “paste as plain text”, the text is reformatted and quote characters are changed which breaks the shortcode. That could be why.
You can try this, add the widget to the Arbitrary widget area and then use the shortcode generator in the plugin to insert the widget into the WP editor, see if that works. That ensures the shortcode is valid.
I tried that too .. still didn’t work.
Peculiar. I installed Business Directory Plugin (this: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/business-directory-plugin/) on my local setup, I was able to use the [widget] shortcode with the plugin’s Search widget.
