    Hi there,

    I’ve installed the plugin on my website and it has assigned me a Forum Shortname, when I try to enter this as the URL when creating a new Disqus account, it says: We’re sorry, this URL is already in use.

    My question is, has the plugin communicated this Shortname to Disqus?

    What happens if I install the plugin and don’t set up a Disqus account?

    Hi 9Xpi,

    You need to have a Diqus account in order to use this plugin. Yes, this plugin is communicating with Disqus to get comments.

    If it says: We're sorry, this URL is already in use. , you may have tried using Disqus before?

    Hey Joel,

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    How does the plugin generate the Shortcode?

    I understand that the plugin communicates with Disqus to get the comments.
    Does it communicate the Shortcode once it has been generated (if it is generated by the plugin)?

    I’m asking because I’m wondering if the plugin somehow reserved that particular shortocde with Disqus, so when I tried to sign up on their site it said it was already in use.

    Do you actually mean SHORT CODE? Or Disqus SHORT NAME?

    Hi,

    This plugin doesn’t generate shortcode for you. Disqus comments working flaw is something like below

    1. You need to register with Disqus.com and register your website there
    2. Then you will be provided with a shortname
    3. Then you need to connect this plugin by login into disqus from plugin admin panel
    4. Then it will ask you to select a website that you have added before
    5. Select a website and then Disqus comments will start showing

    If your required shortname is used by someone, please try again with some other short names.
    This plugin will get your comments from Disqus using your unique shortname
