Hi @engl4614.
There should be such possibility to indicate a custom view for the gallery if inserting it via shortcodes instead of visually and the structure you’ve mentioned looks fine.
Could you please confirm that you’ve stored your custom views using a folder structure as in the example from below:
/wp-content/ngg/modules/photocrati-nextgen_basic_gallery/templates/slideshow/customSlider-view.php

Hi @imagely ,
thanks first of all for the quick response.
Yes, I have the same folder structure as you indicated.

Hi @engl4614,
Could you please let us know if you are able to see the custom view while editing the gallery in visual mode?
In visual mode I can select the custom template only if this is in the folder:
...ngg\modules\photocrati-nextgen_basic_slideshow
But as soon as I refresh the page, the block “NextGEN Gallery” resets the setting in the select view to “Legacy”.
The custom template “custom-view” is just a duplicate of an already existing and working template, in which only one CSS class was changed.

Ok. Just wanted to confirm that you press “Insert Gallery” then “Publish” the page’s changes after selecting the custom view?

@engl4614,
Could you perhaps as a workaround try adding the slideshow template to …/ngg/modules/photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails/templates then select it using “Basic Thumbnails” display type?

I have tried this workaround, but it is the same problem. As soon as I insert the gallery and publish the page, NextGEN Gallery changes the setting to Legacy, even though I use an already working custom template as the base setting.
Is it possible to use multiple custom templates only with a Pro version? I can’t explain it otherwise.

@engl4614,
That’s odd. We are not limiting in any way the custom views for the free users.
Ok, but still it doesn’t work.
Now I have written as best I could an additional stylesheet, which is only supposed to be a workaround. But since I haven’t received any other, better solution from you yet, it will probably have to stay that way.
