I’m trying to separate simplified and Q&A templates but the shortcode using ID is not working. I can show the Q&A alone on a page but I cannot use the main forum alone, i.e. it always includes the Q&A section as well.
I also occasionally get a message “this is out of wpforo forum environment”.
Or I loose layout design if I put it under a parent page (this is probably due to WpBakery bugs)
    Any idea?

    Hi @arsenalemusica,

I’m sorry but there is no way to do this, for the following reason. The forum is located in one place and the URL structures work from one place.
In case if you want to have separate forums, you need to have the multisite or the different WordPress(more than one) in the different subdirectories.

ok, I understand I cannot divide q&a from simplified, though I could have q&a alone on another page. But on this new site I get the message this is out of wpforo forum environment if I put q&a on a separate page. Why is that? Have you changed something?.
(I guess I must create 2 different forums for 2 different pages)

…please come to my aid, things are going berserk.
I thought I could create a separate forum to add on a different page, but it just appended it to the existing forum.
Now I cannot delete that new page, and the main forum is not showing anymore on the original page (which has broke layout). Also, changing the slug “community” breaks everything, i.e. each time I change slug it creates a new page (it doesn’t like to have “community” changed, which is exactly the opposite of your statements). . All these were not a problem in previous versions of WpForo.

here’s an example of forum page, with slug changed, and here is a separate Q&A on the same website. How do you explain that?

    Hi @arsenalemusica

here’s an example of forum page, with slug changed, and here is a separate Q&A on the same website. How do you explain that?

    This is a one forum.
The forum home is this: https://agendadelvolo.com/lounge/
This is just one category from the main forum: https://agendadelvolo.com/groundschool/

If you use shortcode in another page, it’ll list all forums but when you click it will refer you to the main forum. To keep the layout you should use the ID of the top category not the forum. Please read the documentation here: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/getting-started/forum-page/wpforo-shortcodes/

    @arsenalemusica,
If you want to have two separate forums with different layout you should create two categories with different layout. Only categories (top level of forums) can get layouts.

    Example:

    Q&A Category (ID: 10) [wpforo item="forum" id="10"]
    — Q&A Forums
    —– Q&A Sub Forum

    Simplified Category (ID:20) [wpforo item="forum" id="20"]
    — Simplified Forums
    —– Simplified Sub Forum

Please read the doc to see the Category and Forum differences: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/categories-and-forums/category-vs-forums/

Thanks for clarifications but it’s a bit contradicting πŸ™‚ because you say I’m using a category from the main forum, but a category is the top-level of a forum.
As a matter of fact, outputting a category with different layout by its relative shortcode is exactly what I’m doing, and I get the message “this is out of wpforo forum environment”. On the other hand, that is the method I used on the previous site and it did redirect to the main forum… so, using the ID shortcode does not allow to have separate forums.
Plus, I cannot change the “community” slug. It’s very strange because if I browse to /lounge (a page that doesn’t exist) I get the whole forum, whereas if I browse to /community I get the error message above. If I want to edit /lounge the system creates a new page /community-2.
So I do believe there is a problem with the installation.

The slug cannot be changed as you cry out, neither the ID shortcode works. Either you prove me wrong or make a public statement!

    Hi @arsenalemusica,
Please contact us via info[at]gvectors.com email address and describe briefly what you’re trying to do, then refer to this topic.

I don’t recommend chage the base url and the id of the forum page. Those are not related to shortcode pages.
