• Hi,

I am wondering if this theme allows for shortcodes? I am trying to make columns in my page and used the column shortcode plugin but it messed up some of my formatting so I had to disable it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • It could be a CSS problem.

Place the shortcodes in a post and share its URL.

Shortcodes should in theory work with any theme, as long as the CSS they generate doesn’t interfere with classes and IDs already used in a theme.

I’ll be glad to have a look if you provide a URL to a post with a shortcode in use, as Jesin asked above.

    Could you also:

    – provide a link to the specific plugin you’re using
    – try the plugin with a default theme like Twenty Twelve or Twenty Thirteen and let me know if it works

    Hi Jessin and Kathryn,

Thanks so much for your quick responses! Here is the link to the website – I have a coming soon plugin in so this URL should bypass that. I am happy to add you as a user if that is easiest for you to take a look. The page I added the shortcodes is the Oh Happy Day page and you will see that the plugin has removed the white background and doesn’t put the text in columns. I am using the Column Shortcodes plugin – here is the link

I tried the plugin with a default theme and it still doesn’t work.

I am also using a child theme for the Forever theme.

I REALLY appreciate all your help!!

Last question, is there any way to make this website responsive so it displays nicely on a mobile phone?

THANK YOU!! Please let me know if you have any other questions

Thanks for the details, this is helpful.

I tried the plugin with a default theme and it still doesn’t work.

If the plugin isn’t working with a default theme, it likely means that the issue is with the plugin, not the theme. 🙂 Try posting in the plugin’s support forum, where the developers will be able to have a look:

I’ll reply separately about your responsive question.

is there any way to make this website responsive so it displays nicely on a mobile phone?

You might want to look into using Ever After, which is a child theme of Forever that is responsive. You would install it in addition to Forever and activate it under Appearance > Themes.

Another option would be to try a mobile plugin.

Just let me know if you have any other questions.
