It’s likely that you may have a plugin conflict with the CSS then. Try disabling all plugins and see if it works, if it does, re-enable them one by one to find the troublemaker.

It could also be a code issue in the child theme, for example if you’ve got some CSS file which doesn’t close } properly or perhaps some HTML tags missing somewhere. So I’d also try testing the parent theme and see if shortcodes works with it, if the plugin test doesn’t give any results.
