If I recall right, and you have the Community Addon installed/active, there should be a publicly accessible tab named “Achievements” in the BuddyPress profile that shows the achievements for the currently displayed user. At least if you have the achievements set up and checked to show in user profiles. You can set that setting by visiting the achievement type settings in the admin.

    Hi Michael!

Thank you for the feedback. There is no option to check “show in user profiles” under BADGEOS > ACHIEVEMENT TYPES > BADGES.

I can only tick “Show in Menu? – Yes, show this achievement in the BadgeOS menu. “

Other than the Plural settings there is no other settings that I can choose under BADGEOS > ACHIEVEMENT TYPES > BADGES.

Just quick follow up. Under BADGEOS > BADGES > on the badge edit screen there is an option “Hidden? : Show To User / Hidden to user”

There is no option to “show to all” ?

Did you make sure that the Community Addon is installed and active? That’s going to be what adds that option to your achievement type editor screen.

The Show/Hide to user isn’t the right setting.

    Hi Michael!

Great, thank you! Achievements tab added and badges showing.

My theme has a sidebar and I would love to display the earned badges in the sidebar, as it is kinda hidden under the “achiements” tab in the profile.

The badgeos widget only shows the users OWN badges and not the profile that he is visiting’s badges. Is there no option to display the badges prominently on the profiles / sidebar so people can see other members achievements easy and clearly without having to go and look for them under the “achievement” tab?

I do not believe we have any widget set up to show the currently viewed user, other than that achievement tab. It’d need to be something custom done until we potentially get more variations available in BadgeOS core or extensions. We do have some ways that is meant for current user, but not displayed user.

    Hi Michael –

I’ve read your replies on this subject in a couple of different threads and the issue in both cases was that the community add-on plugin wasn’t installed.

However, I’m only getting “Show in Menu” and I do have the community add-on plugin installed. I just double checked and then deactivated it and reactivated it once for good measure.

Do you have any other insight into why I’m not seeing that option under Achievement type? I looked at the user profile and he has been awarded the badge, so that is set up correctly.

just to make sure, jadamkraft, do you also have BuddyPress installed? I think it may rely on that being present as well.

No, I don’t have it installed.

Community Addon heavily relies on BuddyPress being available, so that’s probably going to be the issue in your case.

There’s no real good way to display other peoples achievements without just querying for EVERYONE and providing some sort of limited list or links to an archive for them. BuddyPress profiles provide a convenient way because it gives areas where a specific user is isolated so that we can query for just their achievements in a spot in their profile.

Without something like user profiles, we’d need to go through the steps to create a mini-profile like endpoint, which we just haven’t had a reason/need to do so far.

    I didn’t realize that. Thanks.

Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

A bit of a rock and hard place issue, which is never fun.
