    Hi everyone,

I have a tricky question which I haven’t been able to find a solution to.

We are setting up a Woocommerce site to sell mattresses. The plan is to create one product for each mattress type and then have variations for the different sizes of mattresses i.e. single, double etc.

What I would like to do is have a main menu on the site which has links to categories of mattresses i.e. a customer can click on a link to see all of the mattresses in the ‘single’ category and the prices for the single mattress variation will be displayed.

Likewise, if they click on the ‘double mattresses’ link, all of the double mattresses will be displayed – the same products of course but this time showing the double mattress price variation.

Is this possible and if so, could some one point me in the right direction please?

    Many thanks

  • Hi, jtg!

The plan is to create one product for each mattress type and then have variations for the different sizes of mattresses i.e. single, double etc.

You can create variable products according to the different variations you have. To do it, please go to WooCommerce > Products, add or edit a product, and select ‘Variable Product’ on the ‘Product Data’ dropdown menu. Then you can set the variables.

More about variable products here: https://woocommerce.com/document/variable-product/

What I would like to do is have a main menu on the site which has links to categories of mattresses i.e. a customer can click on a link to see all of the mattresses in the ‘single’ category and the prices for the single mattress variation will be displayed.

In this case, you can use product categories, tags, and attributes to group products with similar features and then link them to your main menu.

    More about it here: https://woocommerce.com/document/managing-product-taxonomies/

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Juan,

    Thank you for your reply.

What I don’t seem to be able to work out is how I can have a single product which has ‘single’ and ‘double’ variations, each with a different price for example…

If I have a product called ‘Super Mattress’ that comes in single size for £1 and double size for £2, how can I have a link to the ‘Double Mattresses’ category that displays the ‘Super Mattress’ in double size at £2.

Is this possible? i.e. what I want to do is display a different price on the category page, depending on what the category is.

    Kind regards

WooCommerce by default cannot display individual variations on category pages as if they were standalone products, so what you’re trying to do simply is not possible out of the box.

To do it, you’ll need this plugin:

    https://woocommerce.com/products/products-by-attributes-variations-for-woocommerce/

… or one like it. (Others may exist, but the one above is ours.)
