Can you share the URL with the issue?
You may try to manually re-type the quotes in your shortcode. This might help sometimes.

Here is the shortcode I have in there:
[pagelist_ext child_of="13" image_width="64" image_height="64" show_content="1" limit_content="100" strip_tags="1" strip_shortcodes="1"]
And I just went in and replaced all the ” be retyping them all.

Does this shortcode show anything? I removed – strip_shortcodes=”1″

Yep, Shows the exact same thing – everything except the excerpt
And does this shortcode show anything?
[pagelist_ext child_of="13"]
And does this shortcode show anything if you put it into the regular page content?

Same result – image is bigger obviously but it just shows image and heading in both widget and body area:

That is weird. I tried the shortcode I previously posted with Quark theme and it worked in content area and in widget area.
The issue might be somewhere else.
You may try to disabled other plugins one by one or enabling another theme temporary and see if you will be able to find the root of the issue.

I deactivated Visual Composer and it worked but just gave me lots of shortcodes.
I reactivated visual composer and the text disappeared.
I changed limit_content=”100″ to limit_content=”500″ and still nothing.
Does page-list not work with Visual Composer?
Unfortunately I cannot tell why plugin does not work well with Visual Composer.
Visual Composer is pretty complicated plugin and it may take too much time to found a root of the issue.
