Sidebar Location window doesn't finish loading
-
I’ve tried both the theme I’m using and Twenty Fourteen default WP theme. I have no plugins installed, this is a fresh WordPress install other than the theme.

Hi @designerwood,
Hope you’re well today! π
Sorry you’ve had some trouble there, I’m sure we can sort it though! Could you please try deactivating the plugin and seeing how the widgets page works on its own?
I’m just curious if the ajax functionality of your WP setup is having a bit of trouble. If so, you could try reinstalling WordPress, that should sort out any odd issues with file corruption, etc.
Failing that, could you let me know some details about your server, such as the version numbers for the following?
WordPress
PHP
MySQLI’ve seen a case where MySQL was on version 5.5 and this exact error came up. Using MySQL 5.1 sorted it in that case.
Looking forward to getting this sorted with ya! π
Thanks,
DavidSame problem!it’s clear that there is something wrong with your plugin doesn’t work on all environments. I’m waiting the new update will fix this.
Hi @thehungit86,
Sorry to hear of the problem you are having.
It’s working fine on my site.
We have to reproduce the issue so that we can fix it.
Could you please share us the screenshot of the error message that you are getting so that we can troubleshoot it?
For screenshots, you can simply provide a link to an image through Google Drive, Dropbox, screencast.com, http://imgur.com/ or other image service. π
Have you tried troubleshooting it deactivating all other plugins and using default WordPress theme like Twenty Thirteen as displayed in the following screenshot?

Please tell us some details about your server, such as the version numbers for the following?
WordPress

MySQLKind Regards,
WPMU DEVI’m having the same problem. It doesn’t stop loading, so I cannot set the location of the sidebar.
I’m working with theme’s from Solostream, which suggested your plugin. So it worked fine in the past. I re-installed wordpress, but that didn’t changed a thing.
I am starting to have a lot of problems with this too. I miss the old version where it was outside of the widget area. I had the same never ending loading… then I cannot drag and drop anymore with this plugin. Weird.
The drag and drop problem is due to a conflict with another plugin. I wonder why the loading / saving never ends though. I refresh the screen and its there just fine. Just kinda annoying.
Hi @little_mum, @webbysmart, @thehungit86,
Greetings and thanks for posting on the forum.
This topic is getting messy as number of members are posting their problems here.
Especially the original ticket creator might not like the thread to be hijacked π Just a suggestion, no stress !
To help keep support tickets separate, could you please open a new thread for your new question on this support forum http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/custom-sidebars. Also as per theΒ Forum Welcome, you should post your own topic.
This helps to prevent any confusion (for us) as I’m sure you understand. This might also help other members looking for a similar answer. π
Cheers,
WPMU DEVHello,
Widget area works fine with plugin deactivated. I have a number of dev WordPress installs on this server that work fine.
Php is version 5.3.5
MySQL is version 5.1.63
Wordpress is 3.9.2Thanks.
Hi @designerwood,
Thank you for your reply.
Can you check the javascript console for errors?
In Chrome go to “View -> Developer -> Javascript Console” and in Firefox you can go to “Tools -> Web Developer -> Consoleβ
Let me know what errors if any you are getting!
Regards,
WPMU DEVHello,
There is a screenshot of the console errors in the original post from Firebug.
Thanks.
Hi @designerwood,
Are you getting the same error in the console on deactivating Custom Sidebars plugin?
Regards,
WPMU DEVI have a deadline to make and needed to move on. I’ve coded a solution that adds custom sidebars for each category page which is all I really needed in this case. I’ll mark this as resolved for now.
It was timing out the same without the custom sidebars. I just can’t remember if it had the TypeError or not.
Hi @designerwood,
It was timing out the same without the custom sidebars
It seems this is not custom sidebars specific issue.
If we can be of any further assistance please don’t hesitate to ask π
Have a fantastic day!
Cheers,
WPMU DEV
