Sidebars locked

    I have a message saying that my sidebars are locked and I need to go to the widgets page to unlock them. On the widgets page there is no place to unlock a sidebar. In fact the widgets page is non-functional. What am I missing?

    I have changed themes and deleted and reinstalled the sidebar plugin.

    Hey there Mromskog,

    How are you doing today?

    Custom Sidebars can only replace sidebars that are available in your theme. To allow sidebars to be replaced please go to Appearance -> Widgets and check “Allow this sidebar to be replaced”, see screenshot http://screencast.com/t/tg1xudFXy.

    I actually don’t have the ability to do what you’ve suggested. It’s more like my widgets page is locked and nonfunctional. Is there anyway I can send you a screenshot?

    Hey again Mromskog,

    You can use apps such as this one that allows you to upload screenshots directly to screencast.com as I did above.

    With that being said this is most likely theme related, can you please try switching to one of the default WP themes to see if that will make a difference?
