is there a way to eliminate the sidebar on certain pages only? i’d like to put some video up, but don’t want the sidebar on the page, but keep it on all the other pages.

is this a template thing, or something else?

that second link helped, but is the page.php file something in the theme editor or elsewhere?

If you need an answer to that question, it would be adviseable to start reading the codex, as when you make changes to your page.php template, you won’t know how to fix it. Which will mean a ton of research and reading. if you want to learn about writing php, search in the codex TOC
