After putting in the Facebook Fan Page ID* we’re not getting accurate numbers at all. On the FB page it shows that 821 people like this page:

    http://www.facebook.com/lebestofparis

But on our wordpress site it only shows 3! http://lebestofparis.com

Is the SFC plugin getting data from the application and not the FB page? It totally sucks that FB won’t allow us to port the data from the fan page into the app, so for now we absolutely must get it from the fan page, but it doesn’t seem to work that way.

*suggestion: explain that the Facebook Fan Page ID is a number because most of us think we’re supposed to enter the URL or name of the page. Noticed a number of people posting confusion about this (which I had myself for about a half hour).

Nevermind… scrapped the plugin. Even if I deleted the app details the SFC plugins always seem to pull the app data instead of fan page data so I tried the Facebook Members plugin and that works great.

The Fan Box actually comes directly from Facebook. The plugin doesn’t generate the fan box code at all. So the numbers you’re seeing are coming from Facebook.

Also, if you put in a Fan Page ID, then it uses the Fan Page ID. However, if you’re using a caching plugin like WP-Super-Cache, you might not see that change instantly. Clearing the cache will make it show the new fan box.
