How can I create a simple horizontal signup form with just a field for the email address and submit button to the right. Would like to have placeholder text for the email field and Recaptcha feature.

should be pretty straightforward with some touches of CSS. We’re not sure exactly how proficient you may be with styling html, but we know we have plenty of markup hooks available to help handle a large variety of styling needs.
